Grand Canyon NP -Day 1

Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park is the 15th site in the United States to have been named a national park. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, the park is located in northwestern Arizona. The park's central feature is the Grand Canyon, a gorge of the Colorado River, which is often considered one of the Wonders of the World.

Unique combinations of geologic color and erosional forms decorate a canyon that is 277 river miles (446km) long, up to 18 miles (29km) wide, and a mile (1.6km) deep. Grand Canyon overwhelms our senses through its immense size.

Desert View Watchtower

Ending Day 3, we stopped quickly at the Desert View Watchtower to get Dani's first view of the Grand Canyon. It had just started to flurry and the temperature was dropping, so we shared a Griswold Family Vacation moment- "There it is, it's pretty. Let's get back in the car as quick as possible."

Nevertheless, I was able to snap several pictures (not of the watchtower), where the contrast and colors were so bright.

Sweeping Panoramas

Ironically, we parked in the "Lizard Lot," when we stopped at the Visitor Center. So I had to snap a quick picture. That's followed up by the panoramic shots I took (with my Pixel XL). I'm still surprised by the quality of both the photos and the stitching software.
