Adventurous Antelope Canyon Tours
Viewing images of the Antelope Canyons online and considering ourselves amatuer photographers, Dani and I decided to try our luck and see if we could recreate some of those world famous photos. After some debate, we selected Adventurous Antelope Canyon Tours. Their website lists them as a quality-guided sightseeing and photographic tours into slot canyons including Upper Antelope, Owl, Rattlesnake, and Mountain Sheep, which I can agree with whole-heartedly. We booked the photography tour that included Upper Antelope, Rattlesnake and Owl canyon, which we visited in reverse order. Our guide, Roman, was a great help throughout the entire tour- helping with setting up shots, choosing settings, pointing out spots from famous photos and even crowd control in Upper Antelope.
Antelope Canyon
The Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is Tsé bighánílíní, which means "the place where water runs through rocks." As we walked through on the feast of St. Valentinus, I thought the following three photos were a good introduction to the canyon.
Upper Antelope Canyon is a well-known and iconic photographic location in northern Arizona. For many photographers, this is definitely a must-see destination. Even for non-photographers it is truly a marvel to behold and awe-inspiring in the truest sense of the phrase. The combination of the gracefully carved sandstone walls and the marvelous filtered light coming through those walls makes for one of the most beautiful places on earth.
"If a picture is worth 1000 words, a photo tour of this majestic cavern illuminated by the angled beams of light that move gently as the sun shifts across the sky could equal a whole bookshelf."
