This is a fantastic reference for local day hikes (specific to the Eastern Sierra). I enjoy the plethora of information the authors have included as well as the layout they use. Information includes a short overview to start (estimate duration, distance, elevation gain, difficulty, optimum season, and GPS coordinates), directions to the trailhead, a elevation profile, simple topographic map, photographs, a detailed description of the hike, and most have one-to-two anecdotes regarding the area.
